Description

December 31 My personal reflection on what it means to have a birthday on the last day of the year a day when everyone is celebrating, yet somehow, your own special moment can be forgotten.

My birthday is on December 31. While the world is busy preparing for New Year's Eve, making plans, opening champagne, and counting down to midnight, I sometimes find myself wishing for something very simple: for someone to remember that it is also my birthday.

There is a strange contradiction in this day. Everyone is celebrating, the atmosphere is full of joy, and yet, among all the wishes for the new year, birthday wishes can disappear. People remember the celebration, the fireworks, and the beginning of something new, but forget the person who is celebrating another year of life.

The world celebrates a new beginning on December 31, but I am also celebrating my own life: everything I have survived, everything I have learned, and the person I am still becoming.

Sometimes, all you want for your birthday is not a bigger cake, more flowers, or a louder celebration. You simply want someone to remember that this day belongs to you, too.
